In Alberta, assets which you are allowed to keep are referred to as "exempt" assets and include the follwing: Equity in your residence of up to $40,000 A motor vehicle valued up to $5000 or equity in a vehicle of $5,000 Clothing up to $4,000 Furniture up to $4,000 Personal property used to earn income up to $10,000 RRSP's and Pension funds are also fully exempt.
