Hello I am sorry to hear of your experiences with the Mexico timeshare. Unfortunatelt, your home could be affected by a bankruptcy depending upon how much equity is available in the home and whether you live in the residence, however there is a personal residence exemption of $40,000 available. Any equity that is attributable to you in the property held with your children may be payable to a Trustee in any bankruptcy you file. The impact of bankruptcy on real estate should be discussed in person with your Trustee, I would be happy to meet with you to discuss your siuation. Please contact me to set up a free consultation.
