Question:

I will be receiving Public Service Pension, would filing for bankruptcy interfere with my pension and RRSP's?

Answer:

Hilda Your pension is exempt as are your RRSP's when you file a bankruptcy assignment. If you receive an income from your pension or deregister your RRSP's during bankruptcy, the funds are considered income and you may be required to make payments from your income based on guidelines issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy. I would be happy to discuss these guidelines with you and the impact on any funds you receive. Please call me and thanks for the question.
