Alberta bankruptcy Q&A forum

Question:

should you contact your bank to let them know you are filing for bankruptcy

From:

Grant Thornton Limited

Date:

Answer:

Hi, If your bank is one of your creditors they will receive a Notice of your bankruptcy from the Trustee. If you owe money to the bank, you should open a new account with a bank you do not owe money to. Otherwise it is not a requirement for you to tell them you are bankrupt, however they may become aware if the do a credit check at some point in time. Thanks for the question
