Bankruptcy Calgary Edmonton Q&A Forum

Question:

I would like to know if my landlord would be informed if I were to claim bankruptcy!

From:

Grant Thornton Limited

Date:

Answer:

Hi Your landlord would only be informed of a bankruptcy assignment if he were a creditor of yours. However bankruptcy is a matter of public record and your creditors may choose to notify the credit bureau of your assignment. If a credit check were performed by your landlord he may be advised of a bankruptcy filing when such a search is performed. Thanks for the question.
