Bankruptcy Calgary Edmonton Q&A Forum

I filed a proposal in 2007. Got laid off in 2009 and went into bankruptcy. My credit report shows 2 different bankruptcies for the same case. Even though i was discharged in december of 2009. How do i prove i have been bankrupt only once and when will this dissappear from my credit history. Thanks for your time.

Hi there, You can send in a dispute along with the consumer proposal and bankruptcy documents to show there was only one bankruptcy filed. The bankruptcy will stay on your credit report for 7 years from the date that you filed if your bankruptcy was 9 months. The consumer proposal may also remain on your credit report for 6 years from when you filed the bankruptcy or if the consumer proposal was deemed annulled. If you need any clarification please do not hesitate to contact our office.
