Bankruptcy Calgary Edmonton Q&A Forum

After filing is completed, will outstanding debts be transferred to sons or daughters or spouse who are over 18?

Hi John, Once an individual files for bankruptcy or a proposal the creditors should cease all collections. Collections will however continue if the debts were co-signed by a dependent or spouse. If the debts were not co-signed and no supplementary cards were issued then the debts will not be transferred to your family. Hope that answers your concern.
