Alberta bankruptcy Q&A forum

Divorce or bankruptcy? Which comes first? I am so far in debt that I cannot leave and survive, however I can't remain in this abusive relationship. I don't know how to move forward. I'm sure leaving will ruin me financially but staying is not an option. How do I proceed? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dawn, Bankruptcy provides a fresh start to individuals struggling with debts. If you think that bankruptcy is how you would like to proceed then you can file at any time. We would be happy to discuss the process of bankruptcy in both scenarios with you before you make a decision. We are available for in person meetings or over the phone, if convenient, to answer questions/ concerns.
