Question:

Will the bank allow me to close my checking account where I have 4,0075 overdraft after I filed for consumer proposal?

Answer:

Hi Judith, Banks typically do not allow you to close a bank account if there is an outstanding balance for an overdraft. If the overdraft was outstanding at the time you filed the consumer proposal then the balance will be included in the payment plan and you do not need to close the account as the bank will normally close it for you. Hope that answers your concern.
