I'm considering filing for bankruptcy but the loan I have is secured by my car also has is Co-signed how with this effect them

Answer:

 

Hi Katie, If you file for bankruptcy or proposal and can afford to continue making the car payments then you can keep the car and the co-signer will not be affected. However if you are unable to continue with the car payments then you may surrender the vehicle but the co-signer's credit rating will be affected. The bank may go after the co-signer for the shortfall of the vehicle depending on the contract.
