Alberta bankruptcy Q&A forum

Question:

Hello I recently suffered a job loss and do not feel I will have the necessary income to cover all my debts. I would like to know if I did go the bankruptcy route would I be able to keep one of my Newer vehicles that has a balance owing of $30000 through a bank loans if I felt I could still make those payments. Also I have a newer truck that I have that has roughly $35000 owing with Ford credit, I do not wish to be without a vehicle if I do.

Answer:

Hi Conrad, If you continue with your monthly obligations with your vehicle finance then you can keep the vehicle in a bankruptcy situation. The Trustee will review the equity available if the car. If you would like to discuss your financial options please feel free to contact us at 310-8888 to speak to one of our professionals.
